From the very beginning of my walk with God, I have been taught that to be stable in church, I had to stay close to great men of God. I took that teaching to heart and tried to stay close to my Pastor, Elder Paul Jordan. He taught me to be a "lover of good men." Elder Paul Jordan considered Elder Robert C Cavaness to be one of those great men, and I can still remember the meetings held at Apostolic Tabernacle, Shelbyville IN.

I give tribute to the memory of a great man of God.  I want my children and my children's children to know of the great warriors of faith. To teach them that the "heroes of faith" do not end with Hebrews chapter 11. I want to preserve the memory of those who stood in the gap against sin and unrighteousness. It is our awesome responsibility to "Preserve Our Heritage"

Elder Cavaness Teaching
Anniversary Service - Kennett MO.

Elder Cavaness had an insight to scriptures few men possessed. He loved and lived the "Word of God." I remember  when someone would mis-quote a verse of scripture, he'd say "get it right." His love for the Bible encouraged us to be sure we "got it right.".

I  had the opportunity to preach for this great man on a few occasions, and was glad I could associate his ministry with the church I pastored. He was a mentor to those who knew him. I was fortunate to know him, and I honor his memory. Rest on, Elder Cavaness, we await the resurrection.
